God's Spirit transforms us, from the inside out

Enjoying time with an old friend and new friends at 30 Days To Personal Renewal, we meet online weekly for 4 weeks and reading through Transforming Presence. In the book my friend is advocating for the personal indwelling of the Holy Spirit, more focus on New Testament rather than Old Testament views of the Spirit, as the old was fulfilled in the new. He challenges us to look past our beliefs and see what the Bible says, an approach I enjoy.

A key verse that sticks out is
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NASB)
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

1. What questions have you entertained about the work of the Holy Spirit?
Poured out on all men (Joel), therefore the only sin left is to deny the work of the Holy Spirit. Unpardonable Sin, in this life or the next.

2. How have you observed distortions in an understanding of the Holy Spirit? How might this lead to a distortion in practice?
"Jesus take the wheel" - "God already knows so why pray specifically"
Jesus said, I have been given authority and he gives us authority as well. We have the indwelling Holy Spirit to lead us. Romans 8:11, "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you."

3. Why is a clear understanding of the new covenant essential in order to enjoy a full and fruitful experience of the Holy Spirit?
"we need to walk by faith, knowledge is like a roadmap", we need spiritual equipment to help us in time of battle.

4. As you think about a more disciplined, rich and rewarding spiritual practice, why is the role of the Holy Spirit essential?
Without him I'm not living in him John 15
