Repent and come out of captivity (golden handcuffs)

Enjoying preparation for BSF Revelation 2024-25, The Hope. Previously I saw Revelation as John sees God's redemptive plan completed in Christ's return

You have rejected me,” declares the Lord. “You keep on backsliding. So I will reach out and destroy you; I am tired of holding back. I will winnow them with a winnowing fork at the city gates of the land. I will bring bereavement and destruction on my people, for they have not changed their ways. Jeremiah 15:6-7 NIV, Amplified says it like this:

“You have abandoned (rejected) Me,” says the Lord. “You keep going backward. Therefore I shall stretch out My hand against you and destroy you; I am tired of delaying [your punishment]! “I will winnow (sort, separate) them with a winnowing fork At the gates of the land; I will deprive them of children, I will destroy My people; They did not repent and turn from their [evil] ways.

Repentance from sin is like separating the chaff from the seed. Something needs to be broken and thrown away - to be burned. When we allow ourselves to be broken and crushed, we're trusting the Lord to mold us into a worthy vessel, the Creator is able to do this. He is the potter, we are the clay.

Repent of personal sin is believing and Accepting Jesus As Your Savior and Lord

  • So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God.  Mark 6:12
  • “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord” (Acts 3:19)

Revelation 18:4, "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not be a partner in her sins and receive her plagues" (Babylon's doom is total, impacting the whole world)

  • So Lot went out and spoke to the sons-in-law who were pledged in marriage to his daughters. "Get up," he said. "Get out of this place, for the LORD is about to destroy the city!" But his sons-in-law thought he was joking. - Genesis 19:14
  • Leave Babylon! Flee from the Chaldeans! Declare it with a shout of joy, proclaim it, let it go out to the ends of the earth, saying, "The LORD has redeemed His servant Jacob!" - Isaiah 48:20
  • Depart, depart, go out from there! Touch no unclean thing; come out from it, purify yourselves, you who carry the vessels of the LORD. - Isaiah 52:11
  • Flee from the midst of Babylon; depart from the land of the Chaldeans; be like the he-goats that lead the flock. - Jeremiah 50:8
  • Flee from Babylon! Escape with your lives! Do not be destroyed in her punishment. For this is the time of the LORD's vengeance; He will pay her what she deserves. - Jeremiah 51:6
  • "We tried to heal Babylon, but she could not be healed. Abandon her! Let each of us go to his own land, for her judgment extends to the sky and reaches to the clouds." - Jeremiah 51:9
  • Come out of her, My people! Save your lives, each of you, from the fierce anger of the LORD. - Jeremiah 51:45

I'll study Jeremiah and Zechariah this month as I pray and fast, preparing for a new year of insight into Revelation. My prayer is to come out of captivity in my mind, heart and soul. Let me do this with joy and purity.
