Silent Dove Among Those Far Away "Terebinths" (Psalm 56, Philippians 4:4-7)

 Psalm 56 focus verse:

I praise God for what he has promised; yes, I praise the Lord for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? Psalm 56:10-11

Supplication for Rescue and Grateful Trust in God. My life verse from back in 1997 was, Philippians 4:4-7, "Rejoice in the LORD...Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

1-3) As I've tried to "be still" before the Lord, he brings to remembrance these wonderful things. Sometimes in life we need to "pan out" and see the big picture. We can do this by focusing on the Character Attributes of God. He is our rescuer, he is gracious to us and when we are afraid AND we put our trust and faith in HIM we move from fear to thanksgiving and gratitude.

4) We praise God for what he has promised and when we trust God we become Encouraged - infused with Courage, un-afraid, unashamed, unintimidated.

5-11) Our circumstances don't change, people are still people going from bad to worse but "this I know, that God is for me." - remember the promises and praise God.

12-13) DECIDE and FOLLOW THROUGH: "I will fulfil my vows to you God"

For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.

Terebinths:

There are many references to the Terebinth tree, or the oak , or indeed other tree types. The fact is that they all come from the same word meaning a strong or mighty tree; a strong or mighty man. And when any messenger of God appears it is usually under the covering of a strong tree.

TEREBINTH tĕr’ ə bīnth (אֵלָה֒, H461). The tr. “terebinth” is found in the RSV for the tree tr. “oak” in Isaiah 6:13, or even “elm” as in Hosea 4:13. In Cruden’s Concordance the alternative tr. to ’elâ is given as “terebinth,” as well as to ’allâ in Joshua 24:26, but not to ’allôn, the word used for “oak” in Genesis 35:8; Isaiah 2:13; Amos 2:9 and Zechariah 11:2.
