Behold, I will do something new (Isaiah 43:19)

Isaiah 43:19
For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:19 NLT

Isaiah's name means "God is salvation" and his writings explain God's plan of salvation for an apostate people (all of us).

Beginning something new is exciting, it starts with an idea and goal. Isaiah 43 is about Israel being redeemed by God, the only Savior (Isaiah 43:1-7) to be his witnesses of God's mercy and strength (Isaiah 43:8-21), yet the people are fall short in every way (Isaiah 43:22-28). This all leads to Gospel (good news) in chapter 44.
(Isaiah 44:1-2) Chosen servants, created us in the womb, our helper
(Isaiah 44:3-5) God pours water on thirsty land, pours his Spirit on us now (promise was made 3,000 years ago), fulfilled in Acts 2:4-8,11 (2,000 years ago)- people now saying "I belong to the Lord"

  • side note: Speaking in Tongues that was first done in 2:4-8,11 means we communicate with people in their native languages. When a minister is able to communicate the good news to another in a way they understand, turn to God and are healed. That's the mark of one sent by God as Jesus said (Mark 16:17). (Gift of tongues, verses are good resources)
(Isaiah 44:6-11) There is only one God, idols made by people are worthless - bringing shame, terror to people
(Isaiah 44:12-20) Logically idols are made by people with basic materials and has no power, Isaiah 44:19-20
(Isaiah 44:21-28) Israel chosen, servants of God not forgotten redeemed. God is in control, his promises come true
