I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered (Psalm 34:4)

We've been having a morning meeting from 7:55-8:05 am called SALT Praise and Encouragement. The idea came from Hanna, and Karo after we met with Christian business leaders at Target (led by Jorge). We've consistently had 20+ people join and share a word. Yesterday Joel shared Ecclesiastes 2:9-11,

So I became great and surpassed all in Jerusalem who had preceded me; and my wisdom remained with me. Anything my eyes desired, I did not deny myself. I refused my heart no pleasure. For my heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor. Yet when I considered all the works that my hands had accomplished and what I had toiled to achieve, I found everything to be futile, a pursuit of the wind; there was nothing to be gained under the sun.

  • Genesis 3:6, where the fruit was "pleasing to the eye."
  • Jesus said, Deny Yourself: Jesus is calling for a complete surrender of self-interest and a willingness to put aside personal desires and ambitions.
  • "Take up your cross and follow me" is a call from Jesus, found in Matthew 16:24, Mark 8:34, and Luke 9:23, urging individuals to embrace the challenges and sacrifices of discipleship, even if it means enduring hardship for the sake of following him.

Thinking about praise and encouragement  brought me to 1 sam 21:10-15;Psalm 34 where David responds to pressure with fear and lies instead of faith (acts crazy, Achish/Gath/Goliath's hometown), then later writes Psalm 34 where David praise God for deliverance, promises, and eternal salvation/resurrection. Psalm 34:4 I sought the Lord [on the authority of His word], and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears... Trust In God (feat. Chris Brown & Isaiah Templeton) | Elevation Worship

Praising God for ministry and the opportunity to encourage one another, all the more as we see the day approaching. Praising God for Gloria, Rob, and Ron. May we continue to pray with and for one another everyday.

Getting a new perspective Genesis 1-3 compared with Revelation 20-22

Gloria: morning prayer:

Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends Your works to another; they tell of Your mighty acts. They speak of the glorious splendor of  Your majesty--and I will meditate on Your wonderful works.

Psalm 145:3-5 NIV

Jesus is in the business of passing along good things such as: outpouring of mercy, visions of hope, a acts of great love. They are life-giving. As we follow Him, we get to do the same, sharing joy and words of encouragement and reminding others that Jesus is at work in our life. Love you

My spirit is the lamp of the LORD, who sheds light on my inmost being (Proverbs 20:27)

Matthew 6:22-23: The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. / But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

Luke 11:34-36: Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body is full of darkness. / Be careful, then, that the light within you is not darkness. / So if your whole body is full of light, with no part of it in darkness, you will be radiant, as though a lamp were shining on you.”

Lord, help me to stay away from media that takes me away from you. Help me to see what you want me to see, to be clear minded and self controlled so that I can pray. Above all to love eachother deeply, covering a multitude of sins. Let the peace of Christ dwell inside me, Coram Deo Alleluia.

Proverbs 20:27 is so interesting as it's translated into various ideas:

  • The human spirit is the lamp of the LORD that sheds light on one’s inmost being. NIV
  • The LORD’s light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive. NLT
  • The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the inner depths of his heart. NKJV
  • The spirit of a person is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the innermost parts of his being. NASB
  • The spirit (conscience) of man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching and examining all the innermost parts of his being. AMP
  • The LORD’s lamp sheds light on a person’s life, searching the innermost parts. CSB

Genesis 2:7: Then the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.

Job 32:8: But there is a spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding.

Psalm 18:28: For You, O LORD, light my lamp; my God lights up my darkness.

Psalm 139:23-24: Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. / See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the way everlasting.

Isaiah 11:2: The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength, the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the LORD.

Isaiah 26:9: My soul longs for You in the night; indeed, my spirit seeks You at dawn. For when Your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.

Isaiah 29:24: Then the wayward in spirit will come to understanding, and those who grumble will accept instruction.”

Jeremiah 17:10: I, the LORD, search the heart; I examine the mind to reward a man according to his way, by what his deeds deserve.

Zechariah 12:1: This is the burden of the word of the LORD concerning Israel. Thus declares the LORD, who stretches out the heavens and lays the foundation of the earth, who forms the spirit of man within him:

John 1:4-5: In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. / The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 3:19-21: And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light because their deeds were evil. / Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. / But whoever practices the truth comes into the Light, so that it may be seen clearly that what he has done has been accomplished in God.”

John 8:12: Once again, Jesus spoke to the people and said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Romans 8:16: The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

Lord fill my life with your presence, and lead me into your promises. I place my life into your hands and I'm willing to let you carry me away. Yet I hear your servants say, "get up and walk." So Lord, I'll walk with you today. I'll let my yes be yes and my no be no. You are enough, you fill my cup, you make me strong, you're will be done. In my heart, my mind, my strength, my soul. I love you Lord, amen.

Sometimes we need to be reminded about light and love (James 1:2-3,Heb 12, Revelation 21:9-14)

Yesterday I had the opportunity to lead a BSF group called Every Nation for my friend James. I started the group 1/2 hour early for fellowship and prayed for each guy to come in and share what the Lord is doing, through his Word and Spirit in their lives. I sent an email inviting them to join with a link to the passage (Revelation 21:9-22:5), the BSF App, and link to our meeting. I continued to pray as I waited until at the hour of the meeting we had 2 guys join out of 15. We enjoyed a wonderful fellowship, then at 4 minutes after the hour we opened the meeting with prayer for each guy that was missing, as we prayed for them by name 5 more guys joined!

We alway start our meeting with a review of last week, "Last week we learned about God’s just response to sin in final judgement and new creation, what help did you receive from the notes or lecture?" We had great sharing but even with 7 guys, by the end of day 2 not everyone shared so I opened pair-share breakout rooms on the application question "How does Revelation 21:9-14 offer a helpful perspective for God's people?"

The meeting flew by quickly and we got to last question that we framed up as prayer requests. Prayer on Question #14 What does the promise of God’s eternal reign, constant light, and continual presence with His people mean to you?

  • Jon always safe, nothing hidden, unconditional support and love.
  • Ngula, eternal reign, no longer questioned, just be with God and keep his word. Importance of sharing His word with more people: strangers, and family. Share and be with them forever.
  • Kevin, removes the fear and phobia.
  • Jeff, this week called brother Leo about sharing Christ tonight. He feels life is unjust, Christ isn't #1 and he's tired of hearing it. Urgency in light of what's happening. Pray Jeff delivers love of Christ and the seed planted in a receptive heart.
  • Yujin, gratitude to the Lord for our BSF brotherhood.

We prayed for James safe return and stayed for end of meeting fellowship where I learned Khup was from Myanmar!

My first trip to Myanmar was during the summer before BSF had launched Revelation (2016). I brought a bunch of chrome books and created an HTTP application for them to navigate resources via a thumb drive. I uploaded it to the web for fun here: https://myanmar-christian-bible-resource.s3-ap-southeast-1.amazonaws.com/index.html. I had a vision at that time of Myanmar people ministering to people in Africa via online resources. Tonight that vision was realized with your Every Nation group! Praise the Lord for you guys! My friend's Patrick Walker and Jonathan Stone are still involved in Minister other there: https://www.facebook.com/OrphanCareInt

Before this trip to Myanmar I met John Bevere at Ameriprise SALT meeting where he shared God and Gary, Larry and Harry (Matthew 25:14-30)

His big point was that people think the kingdom of heaven is like this:

But God's word reveals this:

After this teaching John Bevere had everyone bow and pray. Then asked if we were going to do something different with the resources God has entrusted to "raise your hand." I raised my hand (and later learned that the other 50 people did as well). I added 4 more chromebooks and continued to create resources for them to use them.

I'm praising God for Huey and his family we had dinner last night with Paul at Hip Sing BBQ and shared how impactful friendship is. On the way I heard from Russ and enjoyed the wonderful reminder that when we seek the Lord, He hears, and He answers!

I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered

I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered

I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered

That's why I trust Him, that's why I trust Him

When life seems hopeless, shift your focus - raise your level of understanding

Christians have an ongoing struggle against sin that is frustrating

3 proofs of bona fide Christianity

Lord, wash my feet

Jesus wants us to be light so that He can be seen to the lost

Had to share John Bevere - Relentless with Rob, Gloria, and Jim and be reminded: James 1:2-3, "My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it pure joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything".

Thanking God for Heaven today (Heb 12)

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.

And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said,

“My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline,

and don’t give up when he corrects you.

For the Lord disciplines those he loves,

and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”

As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father? If God doesn’t discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children at all. Since we respected our earthly fathers who disciplined us, shouldn’t we submit even more to the discipline of the Father of our spirits, and live forever?

For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.

So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.

Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. Make sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau, who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal. You know that afterward, when he wanted his father’s blessing, he was rejected. It was too late for repentance, even though he begged with bitter tears.

You have not come to a physical mountain, to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai. For they heard an awesome trumpet blast and a voice so terrible that they begged God to stop speaking. They staggered back under God’s command: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.” Moses himself was so frightened at the sight that he said, “I am terrified and trembling.”

No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering. You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect. You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.

Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven! When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.” This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain.

Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire.

Getting a new perspective Genesis 1-3 compared with Revelation 20-22

On Thursday we had a wonderful service at Wooddale for Teen Challenge Spiritual emphasis week. I was worshiping behind the pastor who was holding his hand up, one holding the Bible. "Who is sufficient for these things?" (2 Corinthians 2:16) came to mind as the crowd of new believers, make believers and unbelievers were loud and acting like people at a soccer game instead of a church service. His message was about the presence of God through Jesus ("Immanuel," meaning "God with us," is Matthew 1:23), changes everything.  “I (Jesus) will send you the Helper (Holy Spirit) from the Father. The Helper is the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father. When he comes, he will tell about me (Jesus)." John 14:26. Indwelling and filling of the Holy Spirit. I was grateful to see Danny and KC.

The garden where God dwells with man, is now a city. The Temple of God's presence (1 Kings 8:1-21) was revealed in Jesus resurrection (John 2:19-22, Matthew 28:18-20), and now we our the Temple of the living God (1 Corinthians 6:19). The light of God which preceded his followers (Exodus 13:21) as a light on a path (Psalm 119:105), permeates from Jesus (John 8:12) and us (Matt 5:16).

My friend Aneej sent me Bible The Unique Book The Genesis Revelation Comparison and it correlates to our BSF study this week.

  • Gen 1:1, God creates Heaven and Earth, Rev 21:1, new heaven, new earth (without the curse)
  • Gen 1:5 Darkness called night, Rev 21:25, no more night
  • Gen 1:16, God made sun and moon, Rev 21:23, no need for sun or moon
  • Gen 2:17, in the day you eat you will surely die, Rev 21:40, no more death or sorrow
  • Gen 3:1, Satan appears as te deceiver of humanity, Rev 20:10, Satan disappears forever
  • Gen 3:6-7, a garden where defilement enters, Rev 21:27, a city without defilement.
  • Gen 3:8-10, Walk of God with man is interrupted, Rev 21:3, Walk of God with man resumed.
  • Gen 3:13, initial triumph of the serpent, Rev 20:10,22:3, Ultimate triumph of the Lamb.
  • Gen 3:16, greatly multiple your pain, Re 21:4, No more pain
  • Gen 3:17, Cursed is the ground for your sake, Rev 22:3, There is no more curse
  • Gen 3:19, man's dominion is broken in Adam, Rev 22:5, Man's dominion restored in the rule of the new man Christ - Adam's act was an act of disobedience, in eating the forbidden fruit (Rom. 5:19; and see Genesis 2:17; 3:6). Christ's act was an act of obedience, in dying on the cross (Romans 5:19 and see Phil. 2:8).
  • Gen 3:23, first paradise closed, Rev 21:24-26, new paradise opened
  • Gen 3:24 access to the tree of life is disinherited in Adam, Rev 22:14, Access to the Tree of Life reinstated in Christ
  • Gen 3:24, they were driven from God's presence,  Rev 22:4, they shall see His face

John describes the crystal-clear river of the water of life flowing from God’s throne and through the middle of the city. This river will water lavish, fruitful trees, including the Tree of Life, which brought healing to the nations. Other passages with a similar emphasis may include the record in Genesis of a river flowing from Eden and the Tree of Life in the middle of the garden (Genesis 2:9-10); Jesus’s conversation with the Samaritan woman about the water of eternal life that would satisfy the thirst of her soul (John 4:4-14); and Jesus’s promise of streams of living water, in the form of the Holy Spirit, that would flow out of believers (John 7:38).

Continuing to pray and praying continually. "Pray without ceasing," found in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, means to cultivate a constant, ongoing relationship with God, not just through formal prayer, but through a mindset of prayerfulness and seeking God's guidance in all aspects of life. As we prayed last night I was remined of Heb 12:22-25, "...you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering. " I'm reminded of staying on the phone while I wait for help to arrive like a 911 call.

Jesus is the foundation and has authorized apostles to make disciples of nations (Rev 21:14, Matt 28:18-20)

I love BibleHub, their treasure from the scripture section is awesome to dig deeper into a topic. In Rev 21:14 we learn "The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb." An apostle is from apostello; a delegate; specially, an ambassador of the Gospel; officially a commissioner of Christ. "one who is sent" - Jesus authorized this in Matthew 28:18-20

In Christianity, an apostle is someone "sent out" on a mission, specifically those entrusted by Jesus to preach the gospel and build the early church, including the original twelve disciples and later figures like Paul. The term is used for Jesus' twelve original disciples, who were chosen to follow him and spread his message. It also applies to other figures, like Paul, who were later recognized as apostles and played a crucial role in the early church.

  • John 20:21: Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.”
  • Luke 24:47: and in His name repentance and forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem.
  • Romans 1:5: Through Him and on behalf of His name, we received grace and apostleship to call all those among the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.
  • Galatians 3:27: For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Role of an Apostle: Apostles were entrusted with a special mission to preach the gospel and build the church. They were considered witnesses of Jesus Christ and his teachings. Their teachings and writings are considered foundational to Christian faith.

The term "apostle" can also be used more broadly to refer to someone who is sent on a mission or is a strong supporter of a cause.

  • Ephesians 2:20: built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone.
  • Matthew 16:18: And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
  • 1 Corinthians 3:11: For no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
  • Acts 2:42: They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
  • Hebrews 11:10: For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
  • 1 Peter 2:4-6: As you come to Him, the living stone, rejected by men but chosen and precious in God’s sight, / you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. / For it stands in Scripture: “See, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone; and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame.”
  • Matthew 19:28: Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, in the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
  • John 14:2-3: In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? / And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am.
  • 1 Corinthians 12:28: And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of healing, helping, administration, and various tongues.
  • Luke 22:30: so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
  • Isaiah 28:16: So this is what the Lord GOD says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who believes will never be shaken.
  • Ezekiel 48:30-35: “These will be the exits of the city: Beginning on the north side, which will be 4,500 cubits long, / the gates of the city will be named after the tribes of Israel. On the north side there will be three gates: the gate of Reuben, the gate of Judah, and the gate of Levi. / On the east side, which will be 4,500 cubits long, there will be three gates: the gate of Joseph, the gate of Benjamin, and the gate of Dan. ...
  • Zechariah 4:9: “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will complete it. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent me to you.
  • Psalm 118:22: The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
  • Isaiah 54:11-12: “O afflicted city, lashed by storms, without solace, surely I will set your stones in antimony and lay your foundations with sapphires. / I will make your pinnacles of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.
