Jesus wants us to be light so that He can be seen to the lost

I went to a conference yesterday called Work-Life Peace, put on by Christians in Commerce. We bring peace to our co-workers. Good work honors God when we receive it as his gift to us.

We are a light to people when we come out in honesty with our shortcomings. We show the truth that all things are exposed before God.
  • “Can a man hide in secret places where I cannot see him?” declares the LORD. “Do I not fill the heavens and earth?” declares the LORD. Jer 23:24
  • Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Heb 4:13
  • For His eyes are on the ways of man, and He sees his every step. There is no darkness or deep shadow where the workers of iniquity can hide. Job 34:21-22, their guilt is not concealed from My eyes. Jeremiah 16:17
  • Where can I go to escape Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? Psalm 139:7
  • Woe to those who dig deep to hide their plans from the LORD. In darkness, they do their works and say, "Who sees us, and who will know?" Isaiah 29:15
  • He reveals the deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him. Daniel 2:22

Eph 5:8-9 Once I was full of darkness, now have light of Lord, light produces good, right, true
  • Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path - Psalm 119:105
  • Jesus is the light of the world - John 8:12, light shines in the darkness - John 1:5, walk in the light - fellowship with one another, blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin - 1 John 1:7
  • Let your light shine so others see and praise God - Matthew 5:16, those living in darkness will see a great light shine on them - Isaiah 9:2, Matthew 4:16, Luke 1:79
  • Put on the armor of light - Romans 13:12
  • Application: Through God's word, abiding in Christ in fellowship with one another I am living in the light of God - protected and life-giving for others
