God shows Moses the generation who enter the promised land

AIM: God proves his word is certain to his faithful servants

A) God shows his faithfulness to his Servant Moses, appointing Joshua the new leader

(27:1-11) Daughters of Zelophehad believe right to inheritance, bring request to Moses, God confirmed there desire
(12-23) God allows Moses to see the promised land, that he’ll be” gathered to your people, as Aaron was” – Joshua is appointed authority over Israel (15-21)
Application: What is my “dying wish”? Do I long to see those I’ve invested my life in to take the reins of leadership and walk humbly with the Lord, serving him with a glad heart? If not, why not?

B) Offerings and festivals are important reminders to see, hear, smell and celebrate holiness to the Lord
(28) Order of offering and festivals, sacrifices to the Lord, by fire as a pleasing aroma (daily 3-8, weekly 9-10, monthly 11-15 with trumpets 10:10, Unleavened bread 12:15-20 + 50 days firstfruits Day of Pentecost Lev 23:15-23,
(29) Feast of Trumpets Lev 23:24, Day of Atonement Lev 16, Feast of Tabernacles (12-38) Lev 23:34-43, 39 – private vow, freewill
Application: What do I have to remind me of God’s faithfulness ? What do I see, hear, smell and celebrate? Does it remind me of a private vow made to the Lord to surrender my life to his will and his ways?

C) Blessings come to individuals in homes led by men who follow the Lord’s instruction and heart
(30)Law of vows, men unconditionally bound, women can be invalidated by “man of house”
(31) Israel destroys Midianites because as God commanded 25:16-18 for corrupting Israel with adultery and idolatry (16)
(32) Transjordan settled by Two and a Half Tribes (Gad, Reuban acted like forefathers not wanting to go but Moses used history (14, 23 of sin) to help them reconsider (31) “your servants will do what the Lord has said”
(33:1-49) 41 stages of the 40 year journey, moving when God moved (Exodus 40:36-38)
(33:50-56) Lord instructed Israel to completely drive out inhabitants of land, destroying carved images, cast idols and high places – if not (55-56) pain and being cast out will happen (and it did)
(34) land is mapped out and divided to leaders from each tribe starting with Caleb-Judah, Shemuel – Simeon, Elidad- Benjamin, Bukki-Dan, Hanniel-Mansseh-Joseph, Kemuel-Ephraim-Joseph, Elizaphan-Zebulun, Paltiel-Issachar, Ahihud-Asher, Pedahel-Naphtali (Gad, Reuban 32)
(35) Levites and the cities of refuge show God’s loving care for the displaced due to carelessness
(36) women inheritance is secured (Zelophehad’s daughters Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah and Noah married  cousins (from fathers side) .
Application: Do I see God’s love for the displaced people around me or do I judge them for their carelessness?  What needs to change in my routine to offer refuge and hope for the people God’s loves, for those who are caught in the storm of sin? Will I offer room under the umbrella that God is holding over my head and encourage them with the peace and hope God has given to me?
