AIM: Our faith’s focus is on God’s everlasting faithfulness
A) Moses blessings for Israel are 100% dependent upon God
(33:1-5) Moses, man of God praises God for majesty, love,
instruction, law and kingship over Jeshurun/upright one/Israel
(6-25) Blessings: Reuben-live, Judah-defender (Simeon Joshua 19:9), Levi-skills,
Benjamin-beloved, Joseph-land, Zebulun/Issachar-seas, Gad-leadership,
Dan-inheritance, Naphtali-favor, Asher-strength
(26-27) God, travels across heaven to help you on clouds of
majesty, eternal God your refuge
(28-29) Israel is blessed by God, saved by the Lord –
shield, helper, sword
Application: What
is the source of your blessing? Is your faith in your image, investments or information
or is your faith in the One Holy, Creator Lord of all? Is your value backed by
the full faith of the Sovereign God? Martin Luther wrote, “I’ve held many
things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in
God’s hands, that I still possess.”
B) Moses end of life is marked by confident, strong faith
and an enduring legacy
(34:1-4) Moses 120 years old, climb the mountain sees the
land (Hebrews
11:13-16) living in faith is seeing eternal life and welcoming it from a
distance.
(5-8) Moses servant of the Lord, dies at 120 (7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when
he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone.) and
Israelites grieved for 30 days
(9) Joshua filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses
had laid his hands on him
(10-12) no prophet like Moses, Lord knew face to face,
signs/wonders/mighty power in the sight of all Israel
Application: How
prepared to die am I? If today was my last day on earth would I live it
differently? As a Christian we are commanded to live as foreigners, ambassadors
for Heaven and speak the very words of God as God’s word has the power to save,
heal and restore.
