Debug your heart, don't make mistakes permanent

The term bug in engineering first appeared over 100 years ago when Edison was describing a problem in the lab. Today we use the term "debug" in software engineering to step through our code slowly and ensure it's working or to identify the areas that are not working. One bug that seems to come up a lot is the "Null Reference Exception" - this happens when a developer assumes that an object that is passed into a function is created (and/or contains value). Growing up I've set things in my heart, memorizing songs and patterns of thinking that really have no value - It's like getting a Tattoo that has that dreaded null reference exception. The good news is that we don't have to make our past mistakes permanently "who we are". Below are encouraging scriptures that show how we can debug our hearts.

Romans 12:1-2 famously says, "Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God."
Ephesians 4:23-24 and Colossians 3:10 says, "...let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy." and "put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its creator."
Heb 4:12 says, "the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]...penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Ephesians 5:10,17 says, "Test and prove what pleases the Lord" and Don't be foolish but understand what the Lord's will is"
