John 16:5-33
AIM: God is Father, Son, Holy Spirit
Focus Verses
A) Jesus promises Holy Sprit will convict of sin, God's righteousness and coming judgement
(5-6) Jesus going to one sent, disciples don't ask but grieve
(7-8) It's best, Advocate (Comforter/Encourager/Counselor/Paraclete), sent by Jesus convicts world sin, God righteousness and coming judgement
(12-13) More to tell, disciples can't bear it - Spirit of truth will guide in all truth, not his own authority,
(14-15) Spirit will take what's received from Jesus (everything from Father) and tell it to you
B) Disciples confused about Jesus leaving, comforted by the Father's love
(16-19) You won't see me then you will, disciples confused, Jesus knows it
(20-24) Truly, truly weeping turns to joy, like child birth - I'll see you, no one can take away joy Truly, Truly ask Father in Jesus name he'll give it
(25-28) figures of speech now, then I'll tell you plainly, Father loves you, you loved me/believed me I'm going back to him
(29-33) Disciples believe but Jesus points out they will be scattered, leaving him alone tribulation in world, Jesus overcome the world

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth... John 16:13
