Change + Loss = Grief
Change is happening, and naturally we perceive change as loss. We also have the ability to change our perception of change and to see the bright side. To change the equation.
Change + Faith = Peace
Faith is more than belief it's a belief that you put your full trust in. In Alpha's How can I have faith? Video, they talk about a Bible translator who worked with local people to translate the Gospel of Matthew into their local language. It was difficult because they didn't have a word for faith and the local person couldn't understand what the Bible translator was getting at. In a moment of brilliance the Bible translator leaned back in his chair putting all his weight on the back two legs. So the word for faith in that language means to confidently lean in, with all your weight.
The important thing about faith is the object of our faith. In Christ, our confidence is in God - not an abstract force - a person, with a name. One of the biggest lessons I've learned about faith is "God precedes people who follow him." I love it because it's simple and obvious. If I'm following God when I reach a change moment, he's already been there and prepared a place for me. Faith in Christ gives us eyes that see, ears that hear and heart that understands. It's a beautiful, wonderful thing to put your faith in God the Father who loves you, Jesus Christ son who died and rose again for you, and the Holy Spirit who lives inside you and guides you.
With the Holy Spirit guiding us, we can walk through the minefield of life and he'll show us the path to freedom.
