Accounting for the hope and confidence of Christ in your heart (1 Peter 3:15)

But in your hearts set Christ apart [as holy—acknowledging Him, giving Him first place in your lives] as Lord. Always be ready to give a [logical] defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope and confident assurance [elicited by faith] that is within you, yet [do it] with gentleness and respect. - 1 Peter 3:15 AMP

God has a plan for my future (Jer 29:11) and he fills me up with it by his Holy Spirit (Rom 15:13)

  • For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. -  Jeremiah 29:11 ESV
  • May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. - Romans 15:13 ESV
My hope doesn't waiver because I'm "abiding in Christ" (1 Peter 3:15, Rom 8:1; 2 Cor 5:17, John 15:4–7)

  • Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. - Romans 12:12 ESV
  • Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. - Hebrews 11:1 ESV
When I pray I listen to the Lord's answer, my strength is like an eagle in the updraft "effortlessly glides on righteous air" (Isaiah 40:31), my faith enables me to see the possible (Rom 8:24-25, 2 Cor 5:7)

  • But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. - Isaiah 40:31 ESV
  • For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. - Romans 8:24-25 ESV
It's God working in me, not my effort (1 Peter 1:3). I'm learning about God because his Word is of great benefit to me (Rom 15:4, Heb 4:12). God is worth waiting for (Psalm 39:7). My faith, hope and love will last forever with God (1 Cor 13:13).
  • Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, - 1 Peter 1:3 ESV
  • For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. - Romans 15:4 ESV
  • “And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you. - Psalm 39:7 ESV
  • So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. - 1 Corinthians 13:13
