Do we wash our robe or love to live a lie (Rev 22:14-15)

Key verses

Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life. Outside the city are the dogs—the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie. Rev 22:14-15

Plow the field, plant the seed in season. Fear of God is recognizing we are absolutely inferior to God.

  • "No man, having put his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God". - Luke 9:62
    • Don't be like Lot's wife, SALT that is thrown on the dung hill. Don't take idols out of Egypt.
  • "For thus says the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem: break up your fallow ground, and do not sow among thorns!" . Jeremiah 4:39
    • The seed that fell on thorny ground was choked by the world's cares, the deceitfulness of wealth. Blessed are those who are poor in Spirit, they will see God.
  • "Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the LORD, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you". - Hosea 10:12
    • Don't be clouds without rain, a lying teacher - Pharisee, always gaining shallow relationships without loving discipleship and baptism.
  • "The sluggard does not plow in the autumn; he will seek at harvest and have nothing" - Proverbs 20:4
    • Sharing the gospel in season and out of season. One plants the other waters but God makes it grow.
    • Let the potter, smash the worldliness out of our hearts and mold us in the vessel of his desire. None shall perish, Love God, Love people.
God call's us to personal holiness in our conduct, The Law of the Lord is perfect reviving the soul (Psalm 19:7, Lev 19:37)
  • But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15-16
    • "Be careful to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you from generation to generation. It is given so you may know that I am the LORD, who makes you holy." - Exodus 31:13
  • Ideas from Lev 19, because "I AM the Lord your God" Show great respect for mother and father, always observe LORD God's Sabbath days of rest. Don't put trust in idols, or make metal images of gods for self.
  • Voluntarily give your best offering/sacrifice, peace/communion over food God has provided, so you will be accepted by God (Lev 3:1-17, 7:16, 19:5, 22:21). Abel said "look what you did God," Cain said "look what I did."
  • Be generous, don't steal or deceive/defraud. Keep short accounts, don't insult or make life hard for people with less - we are absolutely inferior to God. (Lev 19:5-14).
  • Be honest, judge fairly not favoring poor or rich and powerful. Don't spread slanderous gossip, help your neighbor who's life is threatened. "I am the LORD" (Lev 19:15-16, Matthew 25:31-46).
  • Don't nurse hatred in your heart (seek revenge, grudge) for any relative or neighbor- confront people directly so you won't be held guilty for their sin - love your neighbor as yourself. "I am the LORD" (Lev 19:17-18, Luke 10:1-37) - Our neighbor is thus anyone in our proximity with whom we can share God’s love.
