Apostacy is leaving the way of understanding, and losing common sense (Proverbs 21:16, Ezekiel 18:24, Heb 3:12)

Apostacy from the greek in Heb 3:12 literally means "departing from the living God." - yet the promise stands "as long as it's called today... don't harden your heart...

Proverbs 21:16 (NKJV): A man who wanders from the way of understanding, Will rest in the assembly of the dead.

Proverbs 21:16 (NLT): The person who strays from common sense will end up in the company of the dead.

  • Like sheep they are destined for Sheol. Death will be their shepherd. The upright will rule them in the morning, and their form will decay in Sheol, far from their lofty abode. Psalm 49:14
  • from those who leave the straight paths to walk in the ways of darkness, Proverbs 2:13
  • Genuine righteousness leads to life, but the pursuit of evil brings death. Proverbs 11:19
  • But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity, committing the same abominations as the wicked, will he live? None of the righteous acts he did will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness and sin he has committed, he will die. Ezekiel 18:24
    • Today we need to take heed of history (Heb 3:7-19), many didn't believe and they died.
    • An erring heart and disbelieving heart will also be a hard heart (Heb 3:12), therefore we encourage one another with God's truths (Heb 3:13).
  • Common Sense: Taste and see that the Lord is good.
