In Revelation God is describes himself as Alpha and Omega, beginning and the end. The phrase serves as a divine self-designation for both God the Father and Jesus Christ, (Revelation 1:8; 21:6;22:13) to emphasize their eternal power and authority. In Daniel 2, God revealed the succession of earthly kingdoms and history's trajectory toward the coming eternal kingdom. Through biblical prophecy, God reveals His truth and plans to the world.
In the creation account, God said, and it was (Gen 1-2). In the same way we believe in the promises of God. God said and it IS and WILL BE. We have peace with God, peace that transcends understanding. Peace because God was in Christ reconciling himself to the world. Removing the barrier of our sin, shame, and guilt to have a right relationship with our Father in heaven. Peace because He gave us His Spirit to guide us by still water, peace as we witness him work in and through us. Peace, in view of God's mercy we offer ourselves to Him as a spiritual act of Worship.
In Daniel 2 we see that prophecy revealed to a pagan king results in terror and murderous plots. . But prophecy revealed to a committed follower results in a God honoring response that saves many lives and brings glory to God.
To take God at his word means we commit to follow his commandments. It's like marriage, adoption, or buying a home - it's a commitment. Commitment to God's promises means we do it. What promise of God was given to you that has come to pass? How does the idea that fulfillment of prophecy brings you peace in the promises?
