The seventh month (Tishri) is the most spiritually concentrated month in Israel’s calendar—three major assemblies in 22 days, moving the people from awakening → repentance → renewal. It is a spiritual arc: God gathers, cleanses, and restores His people.
1. Festival of Trumpets, 1st day of the 7th month
Purpose: Awakening & Reorientation
What happened
- Sacred assembly
- No regular work
- Trumpets blown
- Burnt offerings + sin offering
Why it mattered
- Call to wake up spiritually. The trumpet blast served as a national alarm clock—summoning Israel to return their attention to God after harvest season.
- Marking the new civil year. It signaled a reset of the nation’s rhythms.
- Preparing hearts for atonement. Trumpets built anticipation for the Day of Atonement 10 days later.
- Theme: Awaken to God’s presence. Prepare for cleansing.
- Truth: God deserves all the glory (Ezra 6:16-22)
