Commandments of Jesus part 1

(John 15:9-12) Obey commandments of Jesus thereby remaining in his love. Simply love each other in the same way Jesus loved you. How will you know? You will be filled with joy and your joy will overflow!

Here’s a summary of the commandments of Jesus

(Matthew 22:35-40, Mark 12:28-31) Love the (one and only) LORD your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength AND love your neighbor as yourself. This is the answer to “what should I do to inherit eternal life?” (Luke 10:25-28) and your neighbor (includes non-believer and enemies who are left for dead by the world, Luke 10:29-37).

(Matthew 7:12, Luke 6:31) Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you (the essence of the law and prophets)

(Matthew 6:12) Forgive everyone who sins against you, recognizing God’s forgiveness in prayer (Matthew 6:5-15, Mark 11:25)

(John 3:7) You must be born again, of the Spirit

(John 15:4) Remain in Christ, you can’t have fruit of Spirit without remaining in Christ

(Matthew 5:15-15) Let your light/good deeds shine for all to see – resulting in everyone praising your heavenly Father (Matthew 6:1) don’t do good deeds publicly – resulting in losing the reward from your Father in heaven

(Matthew 5:25) Settle differences quickly

(Matthew 5:29-30) Cut out anything that causes sin in your life

(Matthew 5:34-37) Don’t make conditional vows, simply say YES or NO

(Matthew 5:38-39) Don’t resist evil people, don’t repay evil with evil

(Matthew 5:40-42) Give more than asked or required (from adversary, under duress or someone without means)

(Matthew 5:43-45) Love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you – acting like children of your Father in heaven. (I’m listening to Hello my name is – Matthew West)

(Matthew 6:1, 5-7) Have faith that God sees your good deeds, hears your prayers, FBI (frequent, brief, intense)

(Matthew 6:9-15) Pray to Our Father in heaven, for his Kingdom and will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Ask for daily nourishment (physical food, spiritual wisdom), forgiveness of personal sins, and rescue from temptation and the evil one.

(Matthew 6:16) Don’t fast for show, but do fast and God will reward you (Matthew 6:17-18)
(Matthew 6:19-21) Don’t store treasure on earth, but do store treasures in heaven – wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

(Matthew 6:25-26) Don’t worry about everyday life, God if faithful to provide for your life

(Matthew 6:34) Focus on today, don’t worry about tomorrow

(Matthew 6:33) Seek the kingdom of God above all else, live righteously and God will give you everything you need.
