Scripture Memory Verse
“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.” — Revelation 1:3 (NIV)
“ ‘Look, he is coming with the clouds,’ and ‘every eye will see him, even those who pierced him’; and all peoples on earth ‘will mourn because of him.’ So shall it be! Amen.” – Revelation 1:7 (NIV)

A) John opens his revelation from God with blessings to the Churches
(1:1) Revelation from/of Jesus Christ, God gave to show servants the events soon take place, angel to John
(2) John faithfully reported all he saw, word of God, testimony of Jesus (John 3:16-17, 1 Cor 15:3,20)
(3) God blesses those who read it to others, listen and obey for the time is near (first of 7 blessings- Revelation 1:3; 14:13; 16:15; 19:9; 20:6; 22:7; 22:14)
(4) Letter from John to seven churches, Grace, peace from one/is/was/still to come/sevenfold Spirit (Isaiah 11:2)
(5) and from Jesus, faithful witness, first to rise from death and ruler of all kings of world (Philippians 2:9-11)
(6) He made us kingdom of priest for God, his father (Colossians 2:13-14)
(7) Look He comes, clouds of heaven, everyone will see him, all nations will mourn for him (Zechariah 12:10, Matthew 24:30)
Application: Do I start with the Gospel and God's good purpose for people when sharing revelation? As a book for "servants", the church and a kingdom of priests -do I start the conversation from that viewpoint?

B) John explains how God revealed himself during suffering, patient endurance and worship.
(8) "I am Alpha and Omega, beginning and end, is, was, still to come, Almighty One" - Lord God
(9) John, brother, partner in suffering, God's kingdom and patient endurance Jesus calls us to, exiled to Patmos for preaching word of God and testimony about Jesus (John 13:23; John 19:26)
(10) Lord's day, worshiping in Spirit, heard voice like trumpet blast
(11) "Write everything you see, send to seven churches in Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea"
(12) turned to see speaker, saw seven gold lamp-stands
(13) standing in middle someone like Son of Man wearing long robe gold sash across his chest (Daniel 7:13-14)
(14) head, hair like white wool, snow - eyes like flames of fire
(15) feet like polished bronze, voice thundered like mighty ocean
(16) Held seven stars in right hand, sharp two edged sword from his mouth - face like the sun
Application: God lays on our heart specific people we need to share the gospel with and pour our lives into. Who has God brought to your mind that you need to share his word with?

C) John is afraid but comforted by Jesus, with a touch and an explanation.
(17-18) John fell at his feet, he laid right hand on him, "don't be afraid! I am first and last, alive forever, hold keys of death and grave" (Matthew 9:4-6)
(19) "Write down things now happening and will happen
(20) meaning of seven stars are angles of churches, seven lampstands are the churches
Application: When we are afraid of things happening now and in the future, Jesus is our comforter and provides explanation by his word and his Spirit (John 14).
