Analogies of what the Bible is

In 2013, I went to town hall meeting with elected officials from both Democrat (Senator Greg Clausen) and Republican (Representative Anna Wills) parties. The town hall was to talk primarily about the redefinition of marriage and family and what those for and against had wanted to share about it. There were 3 groups of people present those who thought marriage definition should change allowing same-sex couples marry, those who were open to hearing options and those who wanted to defend the definition of marriage as one man, one woman. I gave Senator Clausen a Bible with a letter of analogies of what I felt described the Bible.

Equipment for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • Scalpel to remove thoughts and attitudes (heart surgery) - Heb 4:12
  • Lamp to help you watch where your going - Psalm 119:105
  • Shield to protect us (Psalm 18:30,
  • Plumb line and level, standards to test integrity, righteousness, and justice - Amos 7:8, Isaiah 28:17
  • Map, showing us the path to truth and life - John 14:6, Proverbs 3:5-6, Hebrews 11:6
  • Instruction manual for life and raising a family -  Deuteronomy 11:1,13,16-22, 26-28

Diagnostics to determine right and wrong
  • Holiness, pure/undefiled, separate/set apart. God's nature, character, and will.
    • Leads to Life
  • Sin, against God, doing wrong, withholding right, allowing injustice/apathy. Satan's nature, character, and will.
    • Leads to Death
Designs for successful living
  • Perfect and flawless way (Psalm 18:30)
  • Walk in the light (1 John 1:7)
  • Desire God and repent from sin (Acts 14:15, 2 Peter 3:9)
Warnings for destructive living
  • Romans 1:28; And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
  • 2 Timothy 4:3-4; For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
  • Galatians 5:19-21; Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

The Bible is the word of God (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16-17).
The authors were directly inspired by him.
