Social justice, equality vs equity - theory and practice

I was watching JRE where they talked about the new left, socialist movement. They had a picture of equality vs equity. The picture of "equality" is three people tall medium and short all standing on the same box, looking over the fence at a game. The short person couldn't see over the fence, so "equity" took the box from the tall person and gave it to the short person. Or as the new left, socialist movement would say "Take from the person who doesn't need the resource and give it to the person who does."  The problem with that equity vs. equality graphic you’re using showed the picture like this:

We have social equity for handicapped people. The best parking spot, first on the bus, ramps, and accessibility in voting. For kids who are behind in reading, we have special education. I was in special education in the second grade - not because I was "slow" but because I didn't understand the assignments and their purpose, I also didn't have parental guidance as my family was in the process of breaking up.

Anyway, I like the picture of liberation, removing the fence or the barrier. That's also why I love to read and learn new things. Education is key to success and it's very cheap these days. Anyone can afford a Chromebook and use free wi-fi at the Library.

I came across Psalm 9:8 which says, "He rules the world in righteousness and judges the peoples with equity."

 - "With equity" is translated as "fairness, or uprightness" in some English translations

 - Strong's Hebrew gives this insight: with equity. בְּמֵישָׁרִֽים׃ (bə·mê·šā·rîm) Strong's Hebrew 4339: Evenness, prosperity, concord (agreement or harmony between people or groups.), straightness, rectitude (morally correct behavior or thinking; righteousness)

Lord, thank you for people who felt I had value and saw possibilities that I was blind to. For those who came before me and created a path for me to follow. Your gifts and call are irrevocable (Romans 11:29) and ever-lasting. Amen
