Inviting people into our inner life, enables us to hear from God

I've been meditating on 2 Cor 10:4 over the past few days while preparing for the Business Resource Network fair at work (Aug 2). I have 5 minutes to share the benefit of being part of the SALT network. For me, it's been great learning about other Christian traditions and backgrounds that I didn't grow up with. Also, we get to share a deeper part of our lives and make new incredible friendships. Sharing faith at work has been a big area of growth in walking with the Lord. And leading the network has given me a new sense of "conflict resolution." When we invite people into our inner lives, we increase our ability to hear from God. I guess that's the big idea.

The biggest stronghold keeping us from God: Lies about God and the devil and lies about ourselves and the world.  Lies show up as human reasoning and false arguments. Yet God has given us divine power to demolish strongholds

We have yielded ourselves to God to be instruments of righteousness for the glory of God (Romans 6:13, 12:1-3)

His Spirit within us:

  • For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline (sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]). - 2 Timothy 1:7
  • The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him--the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength, the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the LORD. - Isaiah 11:2
  • Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid. - John 14:27
  • For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" - Romans 8:15
His Word within us:
  • The word of God has power (Isaiah 55:11, Jer 1:10), good news of the kingdom of God has power (Romans 1:16). God's word is like fire, like a hammer (Jer 23:29), like a sword (Eph 6:17), and like a scalpel (Heb 4:12). By his word we put on the armor of light (Romans 13:12). In truthful speech and power of God we hold weapons of righteousness (2 Cor 6:7).
