A Conversation with God Almighty The Doctrine of Prayer

 Divisions

A) Daniel reads Jeremiah, repents and pleads for God’s mercy (Daniel 9:1-19)

B) In prayer Daniel learns about the Messiah and last days (Daniel 9:20-27)

Prayer is a conversation with God Almighty. A friend of mine once said of the tabernacle (a tent), "God wants to go camping with you." In this passage we see how prayer is a two way street and looking ahead to Daniel 10 we see prayer and fasting often go together. In Daniel 9 we learn Daniel had a big meal of God's Word, Jeremiah. Has anyone read Jeremiah? It's huge and deeply convicting. Daniel's reaction was to repent and plead for God's mercy. We see that while Daniel is in prayer he learns about the messiah and last days.

Jesus taught us to prayer to our Father in Heaven with reverence to his name.

The Bible teaches us to prayer continually (Thes)

We're instructed to pray in the Spirit with the Word of God (as a helmet of salvation) with the Word of God as Sword from our mouth. (Eph 6).

Our prayers can be hindered by harboring unforgiveness, bitter spirit.

  • Seventy has a sacred meaning in Scripture that is made up of the factors of two perfect numbers, seven (representing perfection) and ten (representing completeness and God's law). As such, it symbolizes perfect spiritual order carried out with all power. It can also represent a period of judgment.
  •  “seventy of the elders of Israel” (Exodus 24:1), “Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel … that they may stand there with thee” (Numbers 11:16)
  • Interesting ideas Why is 70 special, While the number 70 represents the completion of the natural order, going beyond 70 represents reaching even higher than the natural order, until we ultimately reach the messianic era. "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. (Matt 18: 21-22)"
  • Luke 10:1-24,The Lord now chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places he planned to visit. 2 These were his instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge

25-26) Time, word restore/rebuild (Jeremiah 30:1-3; 31:23-25; Ezekiel 36:8-12) Anointed One (Isaiah 53:1-9; Matthew 16:21; Acts 4:26) , ruler 70x7, 62x7, dies, appearing to accomplish nothing, war-flood-then end.

27) Anointed One confirm covenant, many one 7, middle of seven, end to sacrifice, setup abomination desolation.  Daniel 11:31; 12:9-13; Matthew 24:1-31
