Agape Love (unconditional)
- Love must be sincere, share with others practice hospitality (Rom 12:9-13)
- Bless, don't curse - live in harmony with one another, be righteous at peace overcome evil with good (Rom 12:14-21)
- If I have all & give all... but do not have love, I gain nothing. (1 Cor 13:2,3)
B) Love's purpose
11) understand present time, wake up salvation is nearer now
12) put aside deeds of darkness, put on the armor of light
- Jesus' love, "rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father (Gal 1:4 NIV)"
Love Multiplied - Luke 19:10,12-13,14 yet some don't receive it Luke 19:26-27,44
13) behave decently, not drunk, sexually immoral/debauchery, not dissension/jealousy
14) clothe yourselves with Lord Jesus Christ - don't think of gratifying desire of the flesh
- "emotional response" of rocky soil, iniquity leads to trespass. Omission then suppression then doing wrong
- I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me. Matthew 25:36
Colossians 3:14; and over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
In Christ we put on faith, hope and love (1 Cor 13:13)
1 Thessalonians 5:8; Put on faith and love as a breastplate (righteousness from Ephesians 6:14) and hope of salvation as a helmet (Isaiah 59:17)
Application: Pray in the Spirit on all occasions (time, event, reason, cause, instance), all kinds of prayers and requests (Eph 6:18)
- Bring everything in the light, bear good fruit (Gal 5:22-23, John 8:12). Jesus enables us to have the light of light
God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:5-7
