Last night we were talking about how God talks to us via Alphausa.org at MNTC. Everyone had lots to say about how God brings other people into our lives or as Alpha says the "council of the saints (church)". After talking for a while we circled back to the clearest way communicates to us, via the Bible. And we walked through serval Psalms and talked about how God's word is a lamp to my feet and a guide to my path. And how our life of discord and confusion (like the girl at the piano) is accompanied by the Holy Spirit in us to make our life beautiful.
Now I'm doing EMAW this morning and I'm reminded that Prayer, Quiet Time, Envision the Future in Community
We had three new guys join our group, Joseph reminded me of myself, he brought up this verse:
"And though one may be overpowered, two can resist." he couldn't remember where he read it. Then Alesia said, "Then Moreover, a cord of three strands is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4
Then this morning the Lord brought the rest to me, "Better is a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king who no longer knows how to take a warning." Ecclesiastes 4:12-13
- The new guy Joseph is a poor but wise youth when I asked: "How have you seen God's plan for you life." - he gave an example within the past week. I commented that I hear people have the answer going back to twenty years ago.
Lord, help me to keep silent and wait upon you, give me your Spirit, that I may have ears that hear, eyes that see and a heart that understands and a life that follows your way consistently, starting now. Amen.
Thank you God for showing me where I need help:
- this past week, I walked past a man who needed my help, when God had replenished my wallet with help to give
- my boss has taken note that I have too much work on my plate, yet I keep asking for more.
- I had a training meeting when the environment hadn't been set up correctly - thus wasting peoples time
- I have an online Bible Study, where I don't connect with the participants as prescribed and they've fallen away
- I'm half in with this Alpha group having to miss the most important session, Holy Spirit weekend.
- My prayer life has been superficial and my mind has been distracted with worldly wisdom
"Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?" - Luke 12:23, 24
- life is more than food, and your body more than clothing, look at the birds
- God cares for flowers, certainly, he will care for you. Why do you have so little faith - Luke 12:28
“So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom. - Luke 12:32
Thank you God for showing me what makes you happy:
- this past week, I've helped my dad get his house ready to sell
- I've said yes to helping with a mission trip to Myanmar, buying supplies and downloading Alpha in Burmese to jump drives and plan to get the Cru Jesus film
- I've connected with my brother, sister and mother on family issues
- I've connected with my mentee Vijay
- I've helped others at work connect with new vendors and been encouraging to those around me
- I'm hosting Alpha today at work, "why did Jesus die"
- I'm going to visit John and family in AZ, having quality time with my wife
Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
- Luke 12:32-34
Amen!
