How to fight sin in your life

For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.

Sin displaces God in our lives
 - lack of conformity to God
 - fleeing from God
 - ends in death (rage), Romans 8:13

God gives grace to overcome sin
 - forgives us, enables forgiveness of others
 - live life with God, Romans 8:13

Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.

How?

 - Declare sin a legit enemy 

 - Don't let sin bully you 

 - Declare allegiance to Jesus

 - Don't open any doors to sin

Make no provision for sin Romans 13:12,14

Develop mental habits to renew your mind Romans 12:1-2

Be part of a church community Heb 10:24-25

 - helps me and helps those who Christ died for 

Decide to fight your sinful impulses 

 - not resigning to "God made me this way"

 - don't be sloppy and undisciplined 1 Cor 9:27, 2 Tim 4:7

By the power of the Spirit, kill the sin in your life 

 - Christ in us overcome sin

 - trust Jesus, he'll give power to overcome sin
